Rockin' the Ledges
A Singletrack Trail Adventure
Merli Sarnoski Park will be host to a challenging running/hiking event. The 99% singletrack course features cliffs, ledges and boulders of all sizes, shapes and forms. You will be inching your way along tiny goat paths beside those cliffs, picking your way through boulder fields, exposed ridges, stream crossings and off-camber sidehills, cruising through soft loamy forest trails, mountain top views, rhodedendron tunnels and of course, heart pounding elevation changes, plus, fresh - never been used - new trails...a little bit of everything. The course has been significantly changed since last year by eliminating almost all logging roads and adding several miles of yummy single track.
If your idea of a tough trail run is a trip down the local rail-trail or along the shoulder of a dirt road...this probably isn't for you. If, however, you enjoy being out in the woods and maybe challenging yourself with something different, this could be for you. WooHoo!
We are volunteers building a network of trails designed specifically for mountain bikes, runners and hiking. The forests at Merli Sarnoski Park, Greenfield Twp (near Carbondale), Pa offer a great variety of terrain and we want to share this playground with everyone by providing access to some of the hidden gems. To accomplish this task will require building new trails and improving the existing trail network.
Your participation in this event will allow us to purchase signage to be installed at trail intersections, re-blaze the trails where neccessary, purchase trail building tools and create an up to date trail map.
